How your data is handled.

Jam Jawn is a private workspace. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your control over it.

Information We Collect

When you use Jam Jawn we collect:

Account information (email, display name, timezone, role, and authentication tokens)
Uploaded media files (audio and video)
Generated transcripts, timelines, music analysis, subtitle files, and export artifacts
Session metadata (categories, processing options, revision history, timestamps)
Workspace settings and preferences you configure
Basic usage data required to operate the service (job queue state, authentication events)

We do not collect payment details directly (if billing features are present they are handled through separate providers) and we do not sell or trade your data.

How We Use Your Data

Data is used only to:

Authenticate you and maintain your private workspace
Process transcription and analysis jobs
Store, display, and let you edit and export your sessions
Provide account and administrative functions

JamJawn may offer optional research and training participation. Participation is off by default. If you opt in, your permission can apply to your library, selected categories, or individual recordings; a recording choice takes priority over a category choice, and a category choice takes priority over the library preference. You can change these choices at any time.

Training collection is not currently active. Before it is activated, eligible media must pass a consent check and be copied into a controlled, checksum-tracked research snapshot. JamJawn training processes will not scan private user storage directly.

Your uploads and all derived outputs (transcripts, modified audio, video with subtitles, etc.) remain under your control. You may use, modify, redistribute, or publish any audio, video, or transcriptions you create or edit here however you want.

Data Storage and Security

All session data is stored in private, user-scoped storage. Access is protected by authentication, session tokens, and same-origin checks. We do not make your content publicly searchable or share it with third parties for advertising or analytics.

We are not responsible for data loss. While we take reasonable measures to protect your files and transcripts, hardware failures, software bugs, user error, or administrative actions can result in loss of data. Always keep your own backups of important material.

Access and Sharing

Your sessions are visible only to you by default. Administrative accounts may access data when necessary for system operation, support, abuse prevention, or legal requirements. We will not voluntarily disclose your private content to others.

Your Rights and Choices

You can:

Edit or delete your transcripts and sessions through the workspace
Export your data in multiple formats at any time
Delete your account (contact an administrator if self-service deletion is not available)
Update your profile and preferences
Opt in or out of future JamJawn research and training use at library, category, or recording level

Deleting a session removes the archive from the workspace. Deleted data may persist in backups for a period of time for operational reasons.

Retention

Data is kept as long as your account is active and the sessions have not been deleted. We may remove old or inactive data during maintenance, but we make no guarantee of permanent retention.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
